Soak the Rich, Lose the Rich - WSJ.com

article about how over taxing the rich on a state level backfires

Thanks for that. I was already aware of this stuff but our current idiot in charge(Ohio) is completely clueless about this stuff. It's too long of a list to go over but we're headed the direction of California if something doesn't happen soon.

Yeah, I remember reading that from elsewhere, and it was a very thought-provoking article!

I live in NY and one of our millionairs Thomas Golisano was in the papers for deciding to move to florida and people were quoted as saying (something to the effect of) its not fair that he moves to avoid paying his fair share.... huh? I don't blame him one little bit.

He thought his "share" was no longer "fair", and he did something about it. No problem there.

While certainly not always true, I tend to think most "rich" people are fairly smart. Most of them didn't get to be rich by being incompetent in the ways of the world. That's why I have no faith in raising taxes on the upper classes: they will find ways around it. They are either diligent and creative enough, or employ people who are diligent and creative enough, to utilize any available loopholes.
