That's interesting. I had just the opposite experience recently. We drove past a port lot nearby that is normally packed solid with new cars that have come off trains and boats on the way to dealerships and the lot was nearly empty. It was a strange site.

We have had 3 within 30 miles of us go out of business or bankrupt. All three have been closed since before Christmas and all their cars are still sitting in their lots. I would have thought they would have gone back by now. That struck me as strange.

That 2/10 pic of the Hondas...those are all old body styles, they've been changed twice since that shape. Unless the picture is just there to illustrate and not the exact pic of the overflowing lot.

Well, car dealerships have to buy their cars from the manufacturers in order to fill their lots. If they don't have many, it's very likely that they've simply stopped buying at the moment.

Still, it must be quite strange indeed to see something like that.

Personally, I would love to pick up one of those Hondas (at a really good price), but my Corolla is still going!

I have to question their choice of pictures. 5 of the pictures are of cars about to be shipped or just shipped and considering the average car transport ship can carry a few thousand cars, those picture could have been taken just before loading or after unloading. 4 of the pictures are storage lots in the distribution network, where the number of cars would change regularly as shipments come and go with no compeling evidence of filling up aka could just be a normal day based on the timing of shipment. the only really interesting photo is the first one of the cars around the test track, which I doubt is their standard on-site storage, but you never know.

I'm not saying that there isn't a growing stock of unsold cars because there are probably going to be a few million extra cars made than bought this year that have to be stored somewhere.
