oh gosh. I haven't even read the article yet, and I already love it.

One of my pet peeves are when people belly ache about finances when everyone and their brother knows that the particular person complaining brought it upon themselves by their lifestyle choices.

I especially hate it when someone complains about not having enough money for "bills" yet they obviously have "enough money" for designer clothes, electronics, and vacations! It's even worse when I hear of people I know who are on goverment welfare purchasing big screen TV's, beer, cigaretts, and just all sorts of "stuff".

The article is basically a summary of what many posters have said right here on savingadvice. Glad an expert is saying it as well, not that many of you aren't experts...just he has the fame.

That is a great article from Kiplinger and a poster above said it best when he or she said that most of the advice or statements have been on saving advice.

When the gas prices hit over $4.00 a gallon, many Americans changed their driving habits and I still say that helped to lower the gas prices.

What we need is a leader that will inspire Americans to do their part the way they did during World War 2.

As for Washington, we need to become proactive and yell louder than the lobbyist and remind the politicians of who put them there. I constantly write the President, members of Congress and the Senate. Congress.org Home is a good place to go to. There are a lot of form letters.

KIplinger is right about Obama and McCain. They'll both give away the kitchen sink to the panderers in order to become elected.

I deal with this every day when patients tell me they are having trouble affording their prescriptions but seem to have no trouble affording the pack of cigarettes and stack of lottery tickets hanging out of their shirt pockets. Or the 6-pack of beer they admit to drinking every night.
