  • Make More Money by Getting Plastic Surgery?

Without a doubt, your career is your most important financial asset. As such, most financial experts will suggest you should do all you can to make the most of it and maximize your compensation. But is there a limit to what you can and should do to make more money? Blogger Penelope Trunk cites a new book that says good-looking people make more money than not-so-good-looking people. And well they should. The facts suggest that good-looking people make more for their companies and thus deserve higher pay...

Now Trunk isn't saying that it's fair that better looking people are treated better, she's just recognizing the fact that they do get some breaks which helps them earn more.

So what if you're not as good-looking as you'd like to be? Or maybe you'd like to give your career a little boost? Trunk suggests that plastic surgery is not only a good option, but that eventually it will become a rather common practice — something many people will do to help out their careers.

Plastic surgery is an invasive procedure and shouldn't be done without a lot of thinking. Movie stars make their money off of their good looks and know that they have to compete with the younger people on the scene.

You have to ask yourself if you want it for yourself or for some other reasons. There are people out there that are so self confident that they exude confidence. Some can't do that. If it is something that you want, well ---- why not. It might get you the job and you may make more money. That's always a personal decision. I would consider it.

We've been watching a program called "Ten Years Younger" and last Friday one gal said she was passed over for a promotion because she looked older. She didn't really have major surgery -- eye lids were lifted and a chemical peel, but did have some dental work and new hair style and make up as well as an outfit that was becoming.

But Aleta is right, surgery is surgery. In the past year and a half we have had two people we know have complications. One was an eye lid lift -- she had some health conditions and probably shouldn't have had surgery -- she developed a blood clot and died. Another person recently went for a tummy tuck. She wasn't obese and hadn't been, she just wanted to trim up. She's still in a coma and it's been two weeks. One would ask, aren't these a big price to pay for surgery that isn't necessary?
