Interesting article about how disability insurers (Unum, Cigna and others) are inundating the social security system by forcing people who file a claim with them to also file a claim with SSA.
SSA must evaluate every one of these claims, no matter how unlikely it is to be approved at an average cost to taxpayers of anywhere from an average of $1,180 for a simple claim up to $4,759 if the disability insurer forces the person to appeal it all the way to administrative law judge.
