  • Americans Comfortable Managing Their Money

Three out of four Americans (74%) are comfortable managing their own money according to a new USA Today/CNN Gallup poll. While they are comfortable managing money, however, they also would rather have the government or their employer take care of both pension and health care.

Some 62% of those surveyed would like a single government plan to help older Americans pay for prescription drugs while only 34% would like a choice of plans from HMOs and other private companies that vary in the medications they cover and the costs.

The poll surveyed 909 adults over the past weekend with a margin of error of +/- 4 percentage points.
