Boone Pickens, never to do anything small, intends to put $10,000,000,000 into 150,000 acres of wind turbines!
I nominate Montana and Wyoming for wind farm development. The unrelenting wind drove me crazy during summers spent on the west high plains of the Rockies there."There is some ontological doubt as to whether it may even be possible in principle to nail down these things in the universe we're given to study." --text msg from my kid

There must be a 100 miles in west texas where all you can see is turbines.
Here in Wyo. they are starting to develop them as well. Out windy season is in the winter here. Beutiful in the summer.
FYI- It takes 1000yds of concrete and a truck load of rebar just to pour a base for one turbine. With concrete and rebar over $100 a yd., thats a $100k per base, ouch.

Seems like they could be anchored in with giant screws. You know, like the "hurricane proof" Super Dome. I think it rests on deep. flat-winged spiral pilings."There is some ontological doubt as to whether it may even be possible in principle to nail down these things in the universe we're given to study." --text msg from my kid
