TV Anchors Shop With Each Other's Credit Cards

CBS4 anchors Jim Benemann and Molly Hughes found out for themselves how easy it is to use someone else's credit card after trading cards and heading to stores in a Denver area shopping center.

Last week my husbands cards magnetic strip finally gave out, so needing the store he asked me for mine...I suggested he didn't look like a princess...apparently it would work anyway!

Though in truth I had no desire to find out by having some clerk call the cops or who knows what they are supposed to do.....

Not surprising. I remember a story posted here a while back about a guy who did this, but took it a step further. If I remember correctly, he would write things like "I stole this card" or draw obscene pictures on the cc slip - never had a problem with a purchase though.

I have written "Ask for i.d." on the back of my cards. I'd say I get asked maybe 30-40% of the time (of course, sometimes I just swipe it and put it back in my purse - even when a sign asks you to keep your card out, the cashiers hardly ever ask for it.)
