Are cheap European vacations a thing of the past?

My best vacations were backpacking thru Europe using 1st class Eurorail passes. Sadly, it's not so easy anymore.

A friend of mine and I were planning on going to Rome this summer. Then I looked into airfare! Holy cow!

Then we were looking into London for late summer. Same thing regarding the airfare. Yikes!

There's no reason for it. Yeah, yeah, cost of fuel is up. Big deal. So why then do I know someone who was able to go on a tour to China that included RT airfare, 5 star hotels, meals, a cruise, entertainment and air travel within the country all for $4000?

It's time the Europeans stopped fleecing Americans!
