Nate has made it so you <a href="http://blogs.savingadvice.com/nate/2006/03/16/add-photos_6435/">can now upload photos</a>. I highly encourage you to use photos in your posts - they make the blogs a lot more fun to read and will encourage more people to revisit your blog. Personal photos are the best, but you can also get free photos to use at <a href="http://www.sxc.hu/">Stock.XCHNG</a> which can liven up your posts. Have fun with them!

What I'd love to see (if any of you are up to it) is some photo "how I did it" posts. That is something that I am hoping to begin doing. I've seen then on occasion on other blogs and they have a huge impact and are great fun to read.

    Re: Using Photos

I tried to use it and couldn't figure it out. I just use the [ img] [\img ] commands.

But, because I want to learn more - do I just copy the link in the box? Or is it more for taking photos from my harddrive and not from the web?

      Re: Using Photos

Yes, exactly its only for taking photos from your hard drive. If you already have a photo on the web, just use [ img ]http://imgurl.com[ /img ]

If you have an image on your computer, upload it to your entry, then use the [ img ] tag it gives you.

Oh cool. So I won't have to go to photobucket first anymore. Very nice.

How I did it? Finance how I did it? I don't get it, piles of bills followed by strung laundry, followed by err piles of bills? (with slightly smaller numbers!)

            Re: Using Photos

Well, I had to have my 15 yr old daughter assist me in re-sizing and re-saving my image so it fit the specifications for this site. Her goes nothin'... (hope you can see my foster-kitten's image).

              Re: Using Photos

              Keep getting this error:

There has been an error in the upload. Please ensure that the file has been correctly selected and that the upload has taken place successfully.

I can see my image on the setting page tho.
              I give up.

... BTW how do I get the "$ school kid (or whatever it says" designation off my signature. It doesn't apply.

Will see if Nate can help out with the photo...not sure why that would be happening.

You can't get rid of the designation under your name - that is the indicator of how active you are on this site. As you make more posts, you'll move up the school ranks.

                  Re: Using Photos

Ok, I am completely frustrated by this. I think it worked once for me, back in May or June. Ever since then, I have been unable to load pictures. I write my entry, click on "Save and add images", then get the "Add image" box. I browse and find the picture I want, then click update entry. I wait, and wait, until the page reloads...and the new page is EXACTLY like the old one - there is no link to paste anywhere. After "Images:", there is nothing. So what am I doing wrong??
                  (banging head on desk)
                  Thanks for any help!

                    Re: Using Photos

Did you add the image tag? It looks like this:

                    [img]image ID[/img]

Once the picture is uploaded, the tag will show up on your page. From there, you can you can copy and paste it into your entry.

                      Re: Using Photos

Thanks for replying, BA. The problem is, I don't get a tag. Anywhere. I remember doing this the right way once and the tag showed up after I uploaded the pic - now the page reloads, but the tag isn't there.
                      (bang)
                      Any ideas?

jodi, i think your images might be too large. try 1 at a time.

Nate, THANK YOU! I made sure to resize it first and it worked great. I knew there had to be a simple solution, but I just couldn't, for the life of me, figure it out

                            Re: Using Photos

Here's a tip for people who want to post a chart or spreadsheet as an image:

Hold the CRTL key down and click the PrtScr key at the top of your keyboard. That puts an image of your computer screen in memory. Open Paint or the image editor of your choice and do a CRTL-V to paste the screenshot into the program. You can now edit, trim, add notes, etc and save the screenshot on your harddrive for later reference or uploading.

I do this all the time with stock charts I want to save, and it seems like a great way to add budget worksheets or progress charts to a blog.

How can I make my text wrap around the photo?
