Blogging can be tough.

There are literally hundreds of opportunities when looking at blogging online. Thing is, it's incredibly competitive. In most cases it requires an extensive understanding of SEO search enging optimization and marketing. The internet has become very large, it's no longer good enough to just get online and blog. There is so much more to know. Once you learn how to get your sites placed in the search engines, then you need to learn how to monetize and make money. Sometimes that is even harder than getting traffic. You can also drive traffic with the social networks, but they are incredibly competitive too.

I don't say these things to discourage you, I just think people should know what they are getting into before they put in a lot of work.

As the other posters said advertising and affiliate marketing are two common ways to make money but it can be VERY competitive. The key is to be seen as an authority in your niche, so the first step is to pick a niche that is not overly saturated and that you can be an expert on. Usually this means pick something to write about that you already know about, you can make a learn as you go type of blog but it will have to be very personal (sharing your journey in whatever topic) if that is the case.

There are a lot of ways on how to make money out of blogging. Few of them are just cited above, what I can add is that a blog can be a unique source of income depending on the what type of scheme you wanted to pursue. Try to read great reviews at problogger(dot)net

I just started a blog myself and recently got on with Adsense. This will be a labor of love, not money, for quite some time if you're looking to do this. I've had a blog for about 2 months and haven't made a cent. However, the main focus of blogging should be to talk about something you enjoy. It's almost impossible to make money right away from blogging. So I wouldn't be worrying about that for now. Start with having a good blog that provides value to the readers. This is the key. If you have a good content people will come one way or another. Then focus on search engine optimization and driving traffic some other ways like through social media (facebook, digg, twitter). Again, if you content is good enough and there's enough of it, you will find your visitors. Only then you can start making money through adsense or affiliate programs (depending what your blog is about)

Blogging is pretty hard and it takes many years. You also need good quality sites and have to promote them in social media. I like it though.

I just started blogging, i think blogging helps me to improve my English, as i began to read others blogs i will gain more knowledge. One shouldn't be too stressed up on earning money through blogging, it takes time, especially when you are planting a seed, you don't expect a huge harvest immediately.
