ok..i am very impressed by how everyone is saving. so i thought i might try to see what i can come up with.
first i want to tell you a bit of background on me. i am 32, almost 33 and i am married to joe (hence the name joesbaby) and i have 4 children, 3 of whom live at home with us. our oldest dd is 19. she has 2 children, an angel here on earth named trenton, and an angel in heaven namend kailey.
my husband is disabled and we are trying to get that worked out. he has black outs and seizures and moodswings. i work 14 hours a week at my part time job, i also get child support for my oldest child at home. my other 2 children, the fathers are behind over $7000 on both together. (not whineing, just explaining)
anyway, i have a change jar at home i use to save all my extra change. that is my starting point. i dont have a clue yet how much is in it, altho, i turned it in for xmas gifts in dec. so its all been gotten since just befor xmas. that way i do know its all 2006 money.
here is how i plan to do my challlenge...i will keep on adding to my change jar and making periodic notes of what i have in there. that way i can keep track of it too.
another way i plan to add to my money is by selling things we dont need anymore. i will either sell it on ebay, in the paper or durring a rummage sale i plan to have this summer.
i dont think ill be able to save the money i save at the grocery store, as i use coupons and usually save about 50 or so a time. i also use food stamps so that money is just kept for food, not able to be used for anything else.
i plan to save all unexpected money, like rebates, gifts, found money, ect. i also plan to put aprox 20 or so a pay check into my jar, as i do get advanced earned income credit.
hopefuly i have explained that well enough. i will post later my starting amount.
thanks
ericka
