This really isn't fair, and I debated about telling it or not, but it makes me feel good to at least share, so I will....
In October, I spent $20 to fill my gas tank so that I could drive 45-minutes to another town to help my father-in-law with a farmland auction. I worked for about 2-hours to help him set up his computer and projection equipment and then another 45-minutes helping him by calling bids. The sale closed last week, and I was paid last weekend with a $5,000 check for my help (it was a heck of an auction)!
As I said, it really it fair, so it doesn't need to be counted as a true "challenge," but I felt so good about it that it has prompted me to start looking into more and more ways to create money from nothing.
I have greatly enjoyed reading everyone's posts since I first got on here a couple of months ago and really want to get into the 2006 challenge and play solely by the rules of actually working at "creating" the money, rather than earning a check. By the way, I do not work in real estate, I am in middle school education, so achieving the $5,000 challenge, in any year, is like getting a HUGE raise.
Keep the ideas coming and keep sharing your ideas; you are an inspiration to us all!
