I just came across this today and am intrigued by the challenge. Since it is already the weekend, I plan on going out to a garage sale and looking for something under $20 that I can sell for more than $20. On a side note, Magnolia Hi-Fi is selling off all of their i-Pods at 50% off. It's more than $20, but I figure if I buy an i-Pod at 50% off and re-sell it for 80% of the original price, I'll have made a 30% profit. Not too bad I don't think.

Re: The $5000 Saving Challenge
Update: Magnolia Hi-Fi sold out almost immediately, so I went to Circuit City to see if they would price match. They had 3 that were sealed, but out of box and they sold me one for 50% off of the box price. I picked up a new silver 4 gb iPod mini for $99.98 and I listed it on Craigslist.com for $150. Hopefully it sells and I can re-invest the $50 into something I need. As for the $20, I haven't found any good garage sales yet and may need to wait until Friday for the new ones to pop up.

Re: wundergrl21's Challenge
The iPod sold, so we took the extra $50 and put it towards a new monitor that we've been needing. There was also $50 in mail-in rebates, so we ended up saving $100 on something we were going to buy anyway. I did hit one garage sale, but couldn't find anything really to re-sell and spent $3.00 on miscellaneous things we didn't need.
Start:$20.00
Current:$17.00

Re: wundergrl21's Challenge
I kind of fell off the wagon on the challengeI did open an ING Savings account and received the $25 bonus! Now I just need to figure out how to send out invites for other people to join. I also have a friend who wants me to sell some of his things online and he'll give me 25% of the profits. I figure this will add another $125 or so to what I've earned and I'll add that to the ING account to earn interest. It seems that garage sale season is pretty much over here, so I'm not going to focus on that anymore. On a side note, I took advantage of Albertson's policy of accepting up to 10 other store coupons. My boyfriend and I split up the coupons and groceries. We each used double coupons and a $10 off coupon. Total spent: approx. $110. Total saved: approx. $160! I don't usually use coupons, but this has proven to me how valuable they are!
