Gailete, that's the way we will invest our money too. I know it isn't necessarily the smartest way - the smartest way would be to look for the best rate of return, but in many cases that means I'd be investing in companies whose philosophies are in opposition to my philosopies.

To bad I didn't invest in the company last week. According to the paper, it was up over $4 a share this week! Sometimes investing in something local that you have had hands on experience with gives you the gut feeling (or is it women's intuition) about a place. When you go into a store three times in a row and it is dirty, helpers are scarce and uninterested in helping, and stock is messy and slim, you know this is a company on the downhill slide--not something to invest in. But if you go to a store that you have trouble finding parking because it is jammed with customers will tell you that something is being done right.

        Re: $2>>>$5000!

Couldn't figure out why we didn't get any mail on Monday and then yesterday it came wrapped in a rubber band stuck in with the looose Tuesday mail. In the Monday mail I calculated was almost $80 from various source. My hubby got a $5 gift card from the local hardware store (that he visits constantly), we got a $50 Lowes gift card rebate, I got a $5 Mt. Dew rebate, plus payment for an ebay item.

I have $15 of rebates that I have to transfer into my Sharebuilder account. I haven't tapped my cash rebate on my credit card yet as it needs to hit a certain point mark and I will get more cash than if I asked for it now. Glad I really looked at the rules instead of just willy nilly having them send it to me.

Looking forward to tomorrow when I get to check accounts and see the interest and where my investments are at.

Yippee! with the rebates that have come in, plus interest, and increase in stock prices, I'm at $583.28!

the initial $2 alone has turned in $113.06 in ING with interest and referrals. What a good deal that is!

I love using Sharebuilders and getting my stock purchases with their money plus rebates that I've gotten in the past few months. Hopefully I'll have around $200 more to invest before the end of December.

On line sales were incredible also this month and hubby has been VERY happy. Covered all our Christmas purchases plus!

So glad I did this. The rebates would have gone into my Christmas club account for something, but it has been more fun to invest it and know it is available if needed, but I'm hoping it will be a nice little nest egg in retirement. The ING money would never have happened, if not for this challenge. I wonder what it will be worth in 10-15 years?
