  • miclason's $20 challenge

OK. today I'm separating $20 to start with this...I've talked to a friend and we'll see if we can make this! ...my $20 will go to buy some beautiful yarn to start knitting baby boots (they're fast to make!) and baby accessories, which my friend will sell in the US...(no-one buys knitted things here...it is ALWAYS warm!)
    wish us luck!

woo-hoo! Managed to arrive just before they closed the store.. I bought 4 beautiful yarns for $11.70..I calculate I can make about 3 pairs of booties from each yarn...I started yesterday and knitted for 2 hours (ouch! I'm really out of practice) and made half a bootie...so I can make about 2 pairs of baby boots per week!...not much, but still something!! ...just managing to put the money aside is progress for me!

Oh, and, I sent a general e-mail to my friends offering translation services @ $12/page (English/Spanish and Spanish/English)- total cost $0.00!! ...and, a friend is interested!! She asked me if we could do it via email and what would be the best way to pay me! (she works with the ES Embassy to the UN, and says they constantly need translations!) ...I hope this happens, because obviously the problem is that I don't have 100% time available to do this, so my delivery times wouldn't be the greatest ones!

Finished my first baby boot last night! It looks sooo cute! and, yesterday knitting came a lot easier than the day before!! woo-hoo!!...I already started on the second one...I estimate I can make up to 3 pairs from each yarn that I bought...so that would be 12 pairs...I'll ship whatever I have to my friend by the end of the month...

Training preparations at work are driving me nuts! have hardly had the time to knit, so that part of the project is practically frozen at the moment...
Went to the flea market and made $15 more!...
DD made $8!!...of pure discarded toys!! She spent ~$1 on a popsicle and 2 toys that she purchased...refused to touch the rest and those $7.15 are now parked in her piggy bank, pending more $$$ until she can reach the required $12 she needs to open her own account!! - and, this was HER decision, I didn't push it on her or anything!!

so....total for me at the moment is ~$24
        total for DD ~$8

            Re: miclason's $20 challenge

went to the flea market again this past sunday...we didn't bring any sandwiches, as last time we were told only the organizers could sell food...well, we saw other people selling food, so next time we ARE bringing sandwiches and hot dogs....we brought juice boxes, but they didn't sell well, mostly because they were more expensive than last time (last time we got them at $3 the case of 30, this time it was $4.50...so last time we sold them at 6X $1 and this time it was 5X$1....we have two full cases of juice... We'll either try to sell them in the next flea market day or, use it for home... ((sigh)) On this, I feel discouraged...

...my boss asked me to give English lessons to his child's mother (complicated story), so I'm going there 3x week, at $10/hour...I have yet to collect, but, so far, I have given 7 classes, so that's $70 - which will go directly to pay for a cc....does this count, even if I don't reinvest it??

                Re: miclason's $20 challenge

Got paid $100 for lessons given from Oct 31st - Nov 24th...it already went towards debt!..Since the classes don't really require any additional investment...And, I got a request for a translation (2 pages, so $25) today, which I am nearly done with, so I should be getting that $$ tomorrow...

                Add $125 to my total....

Will be missing the next flea market due I promised DD to take her to a parade, and it's scheduled for the same day as the flea market...bummer...BUT, any time with DD is more important than $$...plus, I'll probably make it up with the school supplies sale that we will have during the first week of January!

I finally feel like I'm making real progress!

                  Re: miclason's $20 challenge

                  previous balance $149.00
Add $50 which I made helping host a children's party at another company (my cousin sold them the toys and, they asked her if she could help them host, so she included me) ...this $50 will go to our Xmas dinner fund (her $50, as well!)...so, current balance is $199!!!

Again, none of this is "cash" in the sense that I don't have it anymore, I have used it to pay for debts or to avoid incurring into new debt!!
