Same reason for me, although I do make about $100 a year off of people clicking on ads from my site. However, the ads generally are advertising what my topic is, so if they were interested in my topic, they will be interested (possibly) in the ads.

i can say that is not true... i have always blogged and not only is it free, like blogspot and wordpress, you can make money with not only adsense and other affiliates, but writing reviews.

when i first discovered getting paid to blog, i made a steady 1k a month. I still blog but only make a few hundreds of dollars, i do other things to make money beccause i could not keep up with my blogs

so its possible to make a few dollars with little to no investment

I'd love to hear any success stories about bloggers on here!

2 VERY IMPORTANT things if you are blogging:

          1) You simply MUST be interested & passionate about the general theme you are writing about
          2) You must be patient and consistent with you output.

A very good friend of mine actually makes most of his money blogging, so you're wrong. You CAN make good money from blogging if you want to.

In order to promote your website you would also need to know SEO, and something called Google AdSense.

SEO, or Search Engine Optimziation, is the process of promoting your website so it becomes found under certain keyterms on Google. For example if you have a blog where you list recipes, good SEO would get your site ranked on Google for keywords like, "Spaghetti recipe" or "quick chicken dinner ideas" and other keywords. Good SEO is hard to do, and it might be in your best interest to higher somebody along those lines.

As far as Google AdSense is concerned that's how you're going to monetize, or make money, with your website. It's just a little piece of javascript that you add to your source code that will display ads onto your website.

I have my own website, and while it is not a way to make a lot of money, it is a good way to share your thoughts and opinions, and really have some intellectual give-and-take, while doing something you enjoy.

If your goal is money - not liking the subject- I would set up some other type of online business than blogging - maybe a niche site or something else small. My reasoning is that with a blog you would need to write about a subject for years. Can you do that if you don't like the subject?

My way to make money online is make websites, SEO it on Top 10 Google.com with some keyswords potential then sell them.

That is so great Staceyy! That is a very good example of blogging and making something out of it. Not a plaything when you take it to the next level. To the many who makes it even not on print but even an ebook is already a good start.

There are so many opportunities for bloggers to make money! :-) It's just hard finding out what you should be doing. I think a lot of Mom bloggers just started out doing what they love, and it automatically grew from there.

The best thing about blogging for your job is that you're doing something you enjoy!

As previously mentioned, you should blog because you enjoy it. It is really hard to make a buck! And even a few bucks will just pay for your hosting and domain. Well at least that is what i can cover with my adsense earnings.
