  • Can't add new categories

    Hi,

I am having a problem adding new categories on my blog. I go the add screen, type in the new category, hit the add button, the screen blinks, and there is my previous list with no new category added. I have tried this over several days, no luck.

Any thoughts on what the problem might be?

I just tested it on mine, it seems to be working fine.

However, I did discover an interesting glitch. If you create a category that has no entries linked to it... er... appears to point to someone's link. In my case, to one entry written by YummySaves... and it's something about Unilevers.

Interesting. But I wonder if it's something like a pointer that is pointing into the chaotic ether rather than to a null? No template by the way. Just the straight text (but font and links appear to be intact).

Should be fixed, thanks for letting us know!

BA - That glitch you found, I bet it was when you made a category called 'test'? That should be fixed too. The problem was a setting on the webserver. We have a file called "test.php" and instead of the webserver pulling up your test category, it pulled up that test.php file.

OH! Interesting! Yes, I did create a category named "test". Didn't realize that it went to an actual file. But see, that just goes to show how much I'm paying attention. Thanks for the learning.

Well, when I type on my blog and i check the $20 challenge and hit print, the new entry is there, but it is not under the $20 challenge. I have to go and hit edit and check the $20 challenge again.

Thanks! I can now add categories.

I did notice though, on my own control panel, where it lists the categories and the number of entries for each category, that my numbers are all now questions marks.

ImaSaver - I'll look into that thanks.

Petunia - That's temporary. I have to figure out how to get a count of entries in each category. It was giving false numbers last time so I just put a ? for now.

A category that I would like to see is the monthly one that Jeffrey wants us to finish a question or statement that he starts and it is up to us to finish the rest of it.

I dont have a blog and yet I would like to contribute to this. So, if there was a separate category - I think that it would be easier to read all entrants into one area.

There is - that category automatically appears. You can find all of those entered here: Personal Finance Blogs - Real People, Real Finances (there is a tab at the top of the main page called "contest entries" where you can access it)

Does anyone have any favorite blog websites?

                          Thanks!

                            ScrimpAndSave,

Look at the blue bar at the top of this page and go to the Member Blogs area. Many of the SavingAdvice.com bloggers here have a Favorites section in the sidebar of their blogs.
