Uploading pictures into the posts is nice, but uploading pictures into the page would be even better. Is there anyway you can make that happen?

Was that confusing?
I wanted the ability to upload pics to this site instead of having to upload elsewhere then link back. Or uploading pics independent of posts. As it is, I can use the pics uploaded in the posts on the page, but can't upload pics for the page portion only.

I don't want to speak for Jeffrey and Nate, but that would open up a can of worms if people could upload images to the site. It would take up a lot of space, and would likely result in abuse (e.g. people using the site to host ebay auction pictures, adult pictures, etc.).

This is for the blogs right?
In any case, the short answer is that you need file server space somewhere somehow....
In theory, Jeffrey and Nate can have the images we upload be accessible via unique URLs... but something tells me that that's not what they had in mind. That's also assuming that it does not require login of some kind....
Short of that, I recommend your own file server somewhere and link your images from there. Flickr and photobucket are two potential candidates to look into, but I can't vouch for any of them. I don't use them as I currently have my own server.Last edited by Broken Arrow; 11-28-2007, 10:55 AM.

You guy don't use the page option on the blog do you?
Let me see if I can clear this up.
We currently have the ability to upload images into each one of our posts. Those images can be linked by another post, or a page if you created a page in the page option. They're all part of the blog. But if you are to create a page independent of the post, there is no option to upload image there.
Regarding concern about bandwidth theft, etc... if other people cannot link the images from the blog, then they shouldn't be able to link the images from the page either, seeing how it's still images uploaded to the same blog.
Now I can get around this by creating a draft post to store all the images I might want to upload and use them on the page wherever I want images. But that's counterintuitive. If it's possible to upload directly to the page, then it would be much better.
The page on the blog is like sticky note on the forum. I have a lot of pages to keep track of various things in my life, like schedule, wish list, to do list, etc.... I don't make them available so no one see them except me and whoever manage to get the direct links. But I still want to make them look cute and use little images to mark things off, etc...

I'll talk to Nate about it, but I'm pretty sure that he did so for a reason. It might be possible to load the new code into the body of the post at the top (you would have to move it if you wanted it to show up somewhere else), but the post would still need to be saved again to inbed the photo into the blog. Will see if there is a way to streamline things a bit more.

Elsewhere being hosting sites like photobuckets? I never use UBB code when link from hosting site or any other sites. I only used it when I uploaded image to a blog.

Er... nevermind. That's not what I meant, but since I also don't know the nature of their file server setup, I'm just going to wait until Nate gets here.
(But if you want to try, I've observed that when images get uploaded, they are assigned a sequential number. Accessing that number will get you the corresponding image, even if that image is not yours! I typoed once and ended up with someone else's image. Anyways, because it's within the blog, it's possible-- but this is the part where I'm not sure-- that you can access the images from anywhere in the blog. So, just make a normal entry saved as draft, upload the images, then to go your other pages and see if you can't get that picture there... know what I mean? If not, please disregard this as another incoherent rambling of mine.)
