  • Question about e-mail notification from blogs

Why is it that when I get e-mails about some blogs, the e-mail contains the text of the comment that has been posted, but with other blogs I just get the e-mail with a link to the page?

It is nice to be able to read each comment in the e-mail without actually having to return to each individual blog page.

      Steve,

The main reason is we don't want to email you every single time a comment is made (which is what we'd do in order to include the comment in the email).

Instead we send emails out every 4 hours. If one comment has been left on an entry you are subscribed to, then you get an email about it. If 50 comments were left (during those 4 hours) then you still only get one email about it.

I can see your point, although it's pretty rare for a blog entry to be swamped with responses. The most active posts for the month have between 17 and 21 responses and I'm sure the overall average is far less than that.

Thanks for the reply. One of those things I was curious about.

I've found that if it was a comment on my own blog then the comment itself was sent in the email. If another comment was made on another person's blog (that I had wrote on) it just showed the link.
