I cut and paste from the address on the website, and it worked before, but now when I paste an address into a post, the link doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong
In the forums, urls will automaically be turned into links. In the blogs, you need to put the code around them (I did it for you). You can hit edit on that post to see how I did it.
Jeffrey, I noticed something that seemed odd - when you are in the forums area and you click on a person's blog link in the upper right corner it doesn't take you to THEIR blog as the name on the link would suggest but to the general blog index page.
Is this for a reason? I say that because sometimes I see someone who I enjoyed conversing with in an old thread and they've perhaps dropped from the message boards and I would like to give them a howdy we miss you nudge. Searching for their blog is possible by going to the second or third tab but not as easy as clicking the link would be. Maybe they have been dropped from the rolls???
edited to add: MAYBE this is now moot as I went back just now to check and it appears to be working correctly again. OR maybe I was just clicking on someone who is still in the log rolls of active users????????
Originally it was like that, but Nate fixed it so it goes directly to the post a while back. If you come across one that doesn't, make a note and let us know - that would definitely be a bug in the system.
Oh now I see. Thanks very much (makes mental note to learn html code)
heh - gets even more complicated than that (don't you love the people who develop these things) - that is "forum code" - html can be used also, but this is a bit easier...

*perks ears*
HTML code can be used? sweet! i've used the obligatory & nbsp ; before, but hadn't tried anything else...
LaceShawl: there's lots of places online that can give you a quick tutorial on HTML. http://www.webmonkey.com used to have a great introduction to HTML. it might be several years old at this point, but the information is still valid.
EDIT: funny, even using the code tag the &+nbsp+; doesn't print properly
Hello- the links in my blog posts aren't showing up (I code the links in HTML).
This includes links that I just added in toady's post as well as links in old posts (and are coded correctly).
Does this have something to do with the new design? I miss my links and being able to code things to display as I want them to!
THANKS!
It has to do with an update I made recently, that disabled most HTML in entries. If you want to do more advanced things such as links, use the BB Code found here: http://www.savingadvice.com/forums/misc.php?do=bbcode
