  • Loading in Pictures (aka Is that your cute kitty?)

I don't know if this happens only to me but I've had this happen more recently lately. I upload a picture. I see the correct picture on the page I'm entering it on. However, when I go to the "my blog" page or the "all entries" page I see a different picture. I've corrected this before by re-uploading the picture, but I thought I should ask about it.

Is this something I'm doing? Does this happen to anyone else?

My cat today is cute, but it wasn't the picture that I planned to upload. I uploaded another picture.

Hopefully whoever owns the cat is fine with me showing him off!

yummy, i've had the same issue before too! i think it has to do with how the server automatically names the images: if you and someone else are uploading pictures at virtually the same instant, the naming might get hosed. i've corrected it by simply uploading the picture again as well.

I had the same thing happen the very first time I uploaded a picture. Obviously, I thought I'd really done something wrong. LOL! But then I just uploaded it again and it hasn't happened since. It is quite disconcerting when it happens though!

Thank you ! I left the mysterious cat picture up on my blog in case it might help with trouble shooting to see an uncorrected example.

Yes, please leave it on for now - It may help Nate. The worst part is it doesn't resize correctly so the whole right column goes to the bottom.

yeah, i noticed that too, so i've just been resizing mine by hand before i upload them. then again, since i take all my pics at 5 mgp, i don't think you want me hogging all your server space so i'll probably continue to resize *g*

Yes, it's happened to me. I assumed, like tinapbeana did, that it was a fluke from two folks posting at the same time. I've just re-done it, but if it happens again, then I'll save the "wrong" picture.

It happened to me again last night but I forgot to save it. I thought I was uploading a picture that said "thank you" so imagine my surprise to to see instead a HUGE picture of a kid with a scar on their neck!!! LOL!

Re: Loading in Pictures (aka Is that your cute kitty?)

                      now this is weird!

jeffery's post today about money soap as the proper picture showing up, and the url for the photo is
                      Code:
                      http://blogs.savingadvice.com/image.php?blog=personal-finance&id=981&original=1
now, when you look at the summary of all posts at http://blogs.savingadvice.com/all_entries.php?page=2 the picture in the summary of jeffery's post is DIFFERENT than the one showing in his blog (this one is a weird looking cat thing).

the url given for this weirdo picture is
                      Code:
                      http://blogs.savingadvice.com/image.php?blog=&id=981&original=1
, but when you CLICK on the picture, it takes you to the correct page showing the correct 'money in soap' picture.

my guess about how this system is working is when a picture gets uploaded it gets labeled and assigned its very own page. the software then creates a 'thumbnail' (simply meaning a resized version of the original photo rather than an actual tiny little thumbnail) based on this picture and it's new name, and the 'thumbnail' is what gets put into the post or the all posts summary page.

so i'm wondering, jeff & nate, if the issue we're seeing isn't that the incorrect picture is getting placed in folks blogs (i.e. photo ID number 981 isn't actually the money in soap picture), but that the 'thumbnail' your system is creating is getting named weirdly and therefore isn't showing the proper image in some places where it's used (i.e. the summary page for all posts, or the original post itself).

dunno, just struck me as funny that jeff's blog got hit by the weirdo picture issue...

Okay, its either fixed, or broken even worse

And Tina, yes you are correct I think. I just wish I could figure out why the image names are getting mixed up. I don't see how its possible from looking at the code.
