Samsung is another one that comes to mind at $77,400. Average Jane or Joe can only blink their eyes at that price point and only wish they could buy one including myself.

Schwab offers fractional share purchases for any company in the S&P 500 with a minimum purchase of $5.

There's got to be a high premium on fractional stock shares much like buying a 1 gram bullion gold bar vs buying a 1/2 ounce or 1 ounce bullion gold bar.

I haven’t read all the fine print but I don’t think there is. If a stock is $100/sh and you invest $5 you get 1/20 of a share. And trades are commission-free.

I thought it was something like buying a single doughnut for $2.50 vs buying the dozen for $7.99.

Yeah I’m pretty sure it doesn’t work like that. You are legit paying 1/20 of the price to get 1/20 of a share. Now maybe there’s some internal stuff and the share price you get isn’t quite as favorable as if you were buying 1,000 shares at once but that’s harder to determine.

I haven't been paying much attention to NVDA but at +$1355 on Monday I may take my profits and cashout.

This is kind of an edge case--One downside that I can think of to having fractional shares is if you decide to change brokerages. They will not transfer fractional shares. If it is in a taxable account, they first transfer the whole shares (no tax consequences on the transfer of whole shares) and then they liquidate the fractional shares and transfer over the resulting cash. The liquidation of fractional shares will be a taxable event. Also, it adds about a week to the transfer process.

We sure have come a long way-- years ago-- they used to charge a higher commission for anything less than 100 shares (which was considered an "odd lot"). Now, we have commission free trades if you do the trade yourself on the computer.

Anyone buy the dip recently. I missed selling at $131. If I did sell then I would have bought the dip.

I watched the dip and silently suffered a bit.

May cashout my NVDA with a $916 profit tomorrow. Also, just bought some UNG last week and wish I bought more sitting on $183 unrealized gains.

NVDA is taking off like a rocket today. I would like to sell today and take my profits but I’m at work and my password is at home so tomorrow morning if it’s still at $131, I’m selling.

Good reminder to keep your passwords accessible. In this case, you could do the "forgot my password" thing and change it so you can get in today.

Didn’t want to change my password but too late and markets closed at $127. Question how do you keep your passwords readily available? I choose not to install an app that keeps all my passwords in one app (I don’t trust it).
