I have an account at Chase and the teller cashed out my 4 bonds that matured in 2019. Extremely easy process and I did not need an appointment. I even brought a certified copy of my marriage certificate because my last name was not the same. No issues. I got a printout showing amount of interest but not a 1099-INT. From looking around the internet, I can amend my return without one and Chase would be the Payer in this case. However, before I do, I am a bit unsure of a few other things I read: it was stated somewhere (a financial type site) that 1099-INTs are usually issued at the end of the year -- i.e., since I actually cashed these in 2021, I would expect a 1099-INT from Chase early in 2022. But I would have already amended my return and paid any taxes due (at least that is what I want to do). Also, with the 1099-INT issued for 2021, it would normally be assumed that taxes would be due for the 2021 tax year only. I have more to cash, so Chase would then also be sending me a 1099-INT that is cumulative as well. Any tips on what to do tax wise? Thanks in advance.
