  • McDonald's aims to rebrand its image

Mcdonalds is going to get rid of its junk food image. It's eliminating some unpalatable ingredients from the menu. It's supposed to remove artificial preservatives and high-fructose corn syrup from burger buns. Its actions are based on the fact that the company was losing its market share for 3 consecutive years to its wholesome rivals. Meanwhile share price of Mcdonalds shows 18.7% YoY growth, last earnings report of the company was a fifth consecutive quarter of EPS decline with $1.25 a share. The question is if such measures will help?

Yeah I heard something like mcdonals chicken nuggets are now 100% chicken. WTF were they before? Why were they selling something other than 100% chicken? Its a shame people are that dumb...mcdonals is blatantly telling consumers that they werent actually eating real chicken. That place is disgusting.

Notice many McD franchises have closed here since our oil & gas based economy crashed. I suspect more of their profit is from SE Asia with extra ordinarily high populations. Major cities in China have McD's everywhere teens gather. If their economy crashes as often mentioned by TV's talking heads...watch out. It will vibrate in N America just like the 2008 American crisis caused H_ll all over the world!

Just as long as taco bell stays around. I only eat there when on vacation. I order the 10 pack of soft shells and down them all. Not really sure what they use..maybe a combo of dog and horse meat but my god it tastes good.

Yes, MCD is getting their clock cleaned by the fast casual competition, which is much better quality.

For example, at Chopotle, you get real beans and meat. At McDonalds, you get burger patty that may or may not be meat.

Mc Donalds is THE sysnonym for junkfood... To get rid of that will be hard work, if it's possible at all...

I think it's somewhat flawed to think that the alternatives to McDonalds are actually healthy. I mean, they might be better than McDonalds, but at the end of the day, what are you really eating if you can get it from a drive thru in less than 5 minutes?

People need to go into their kitchens more and try their hand at some good old fashion cooking. Probably wouldn't hurt if people checked out a gym here and there either.

People have learned that for about the same price as fast food or a couple dollars more, you can get a nicer experience at places like Chipotle or Panera. Is the food any better for you? Probably not though it can be if you choose appropriately. If nothing else, it tends to be made with less processed ingredients. At Panera, which we frequent, I'll always get an apple with my sandwich rather than chips. And I often do the cup of soup and half sandwich for lunch which is actually a pretty nutritionally balanced and sensible calorie meal.
