Hi, I needed some advice on what to do. I am 35 years old and I have moved to Korea to be with my wife (yes, she is Korean). I have a job here and haven't lived in the U.S. for almost 8 years now. Last year, my father passed away and left me some money. I had a ton of student loans that I've paid off as well as all of my credit card debt. So, basically I am now sitting pretty with 30k in my bank account, not doing thing. As I said, I live in Korea now, and I have no clue what to do.

I just started looking at IRAs and looking for ways to invest, but don't have a clue what do invest in. I don't have a 401k or or any type of retirement fund because I've been living in Korea. I've saved money here in Korea, but my question is what do i with the 30k? I was reading some threads in various sites, and so many people were saying that to have 30k in a bank account is pointless. I think I'll come back to America in a couple of years because my wife wants to do a masters, so until then, that 30k is going to just sit and do nothing unless I do something about it. Please help~

American law requires citizens file income tax declaring world-wide income. Have you been filing for the past 8 years? it's helpful to track your Net Worth, for example, do you have a condo to sell sometime in the future, cars ?

Do you and wife contribute to a Kr. retirement plan? Would you be comfortable holding a portfolio of Korean equities KOSPI [Stock Exchange]?
