I have read different articles about individual stocks and occasionally people will write something like "management owns 10% of this stock". Can anyone here tell me how I can research stocks to find this type of information on my own please?

Look up the stock on Yahoo Finance and then on the left side, click on "Major Holders".

Businessweek profiles often give great information on how much stock management holds.

Also try Market Watch and Forbes profiles.

For public companies, you can go to finance.yahoo.com and enter a stock symbol. On the left side, you will see an Ownership menu item. Below is Major Holders, Insider Transactions and Inside Roster. This should give you considerable information. Personally, I usually like to know institutional ownership which is revealed in Major Holders.
