  • Inflated Market

First off, I'm not saying the sky is falling.

However, I would like to invest in some funds that are a little more "inflated market" resistant.

I have heard value funds and REIT funds can help a lot with this.

    Any thoughts?

REITS can be a good investment, but they are interest rate sensitive. Several REITS that I've been watching have already cut their dividends when mortgage rates recently crept up.

But, how are you investing? If you are in for the long term, then the best time to invest is today. Don't worry about the daily fluctuations of the market.

I think REITs and value funds certainly have a place in a well-diversified portfolio. I own both personally.

I thought the market was inflated at the beginning of this year, so I held my nose and only put 50% of my cash in stock index. Later in the year after it had gone up 15%, I really thought it was inflated, so I put in 50% of the remaining cash. It is up 5% more since then. When it goes up another 20% I will probably put in the last bit.

I am no longer sure it is ever going down in any significant way. If the debt crisis couldn't make even a door ding in the market, I am not sure what will.

What is the purpose and time horizon of the investment?
