  • what is best way to invest 12k

I recently sold my condo and have 12,000 dollars left over to invest. I would like to find a way to get a good return on that money. Plus add money to the account each month. Such as an MMA account. I just don't know how to go about doing this. Or if even getting an mma acount is worth it.

Also I might be receiving 300,000 dollars from a life insurance policy on my husband who is dieing from cancer. Although I don't like to think about it I do need to plan the for the future of myself and my son. But right now I definitely have the 12,000 and would like some advice on how to invest it. any help would be appreciated.

Go to vanguard.com and look at their total index funds. Once you are more informed about Vanguard, come back here and ask which particular funds. Most folks will recommend one of the total market index funds.

Welcome to the site. Sorry to hear about your husband's illness. I hope you don't collect on that policy anytime soon.

We really need a lot more info to help answer your question. What does the big picture look like? How old are you? What is the household income now, and what will it be if your husband passes away? What are your monthly expenses? Any debt? Will there be any new debt as a result of medical treatments? Do you have an emergency fund? Retirement savings? Money set aside for funeral expenses? Do you work currently?

The more you can share about your situation, the better the advice we can give.

Im 32. I make almost 48k a year before taxes. I work for a union so I have a couple of pensions for when I turn 55. I just paid off 95 % off my crdit card debt. I am also in the middle of purchasing a new home for 120-125k we havent got the appraisal back yet. Money is already set aside for closing and down paymwnts the 12 is just leftovers.I have a car payment. 463 a month. What I would liketo do do is put that money into something that would have at least a 3% return and add 100-200 $ a month depending on my overtime. Does intraest rates like that exisit anymore these days? I would like to see what it would do in 2-3 years. It's not for anything special other than trying to get the best return on it.
I own some stock that was givin to me when I was a kid. Then I opened a account to buy stock on my own just play with. If anyone has info on solar3d (sltd) or what they thinkmabout it that would be cool. I bought 4, 000 shares cause it was so low and they are going to market im think starting next year. Im sure they will do a reverse split in the future so Im wondering if it would be worth investing more.
        Thank younfor your help
