  • Precious Metal Fund

Can someone please recommend a good precious metal fund? I would like to invest in physical holdings. Most important to me is trust with the establishment actually holding the metals, also important is not getting raped with expenses (although i know they will be high). I want to diversify with some precious metals.

    Thanks.

GLTR (or Glitter ) has been one I've been thinking about for some semi-diversified, precious metal ETF exposure with physical holdings. The AUM aren't too high $220M and volume isn't that great (~12,000) but its been around for about 2.5 years, the expense ratio is relatively cheap 0.60% and it holds:

    53% gold bullion
    35% silver
    7% platinum
    5% palladium

Again, not GREAT diversification but a little and not too expensive.

I feel that the gold is the best metal you can invest in, right now. One has to go for it as it is going to increase further in the future as well.

Hard to say when PMs just took a nose dive. From what I have seen/read, physical control of the PM is the best option, though security of said PMs is an issue. There is a lot of talk on "Paper metal" in regards to the SPOT price rather than the price of physical metal. The physical metal will always be a few dollars more than paper (Or so I have been told).

There seems to be some publicity of companies saying that they are holding your PMs but they have only a fraction on hand of what they should have so your gold and someone else gold may be the same piece of gold.

I'm just learning about PMs so my advice may not be the best.
