  • Vanguard Municipal Bond Funds

I moved to TX within the last few weeks. I moved from CA and had probably 150k in the Vanguard Intermediate Admiral Municipal Bond Fund. Am I right in supposing that it would be time for me to transfer all those shares to the Vanguard Intermediate-Term Tax-Exempt Fund Admiral Shares (VWIUX)?

    Thanks

What's the ticker on the Vanguard Intermediate Admiral Municipal Bond Fund that you got out of? From what I can see, that's the same fund that you're describing of going into.

Were you in the CA Inter. Tax-Exempt Fund before?

Perhaps OP is talking about converting investor-class MF shares into Admiral-class shares? If that is the case, then you don't need to sell/buy anything, you can simply notify Vanguard that you would like to make the change. It's an internal measure that, with adequate holdings in a particular fund, simply qualifies you for lower expenses.

I still have the VCADX from when I lived in California. Now that I reside in TX, I was wondering if I should transfer them all to VWIUX. If I don't, won't they be taxed federally?

        Thanks
