  • A word of warning from vanguard..

I found this article from vanguard and thought I would pass it along.
I really don't understand why Vanguard would create this story though To me it reads like something from MSNBC or a mass print investor magazine rather than an investment company such as Vanguard.. I'm guessing vanguard endorses Romney.

Am I the only person that isn't afraid of the fiscal cliff? I say bring it! We need a wake up call

I doubt very strongly that Vanguard has any sort of official stance on politics. Besides, the whole "fiscal cliff" is being brought up by both Republicans & Democrats as a major looming issue. I'll be honest, I don't fully understand the "impending crisis", but this article isn't extraordinary in any way. Everybody knows there's an issue, and everyone knows that it needs to be addressed. It's the "how" that politicians are all squawking and arguing about...

Major debt and future unfunded liabilities for social security, medicare, etc...

At least for the ordinary man, the crisis is in potential hyperinflation. Beyond that, although not a crisis, perpetually low interest rates make it harder for people to escape from poverty.

By far the debt and insanely managed government budget are the biggest issues. We could gut the entire defense budget and we still wouldn't even balance it. It's hard to believe things got this bad.

I don't see how this could be seen as an endorsement for either candidate. Whoever takes office, Romney or Obama, will have to deal with it. They're just showing the possible ramifications if it's not dealt with.
The easiest thing of all is to deceive one's self; for what a man wishes, he generally believes to be true.

Afraid? I say bring it on now so I can buy some cheap funds.. Problem is it could take a year and then even longer to see the results..

Here's another gloomy Vanguard article. and a study Vanguard did on bonds and rising rates.
