You seem fairly knowledgeable about funds and investments.

Have you considered skipping the middle man and go for buying stocks and bonds on your own? No mutual funds, just create your own portfolio and buy/sell when the timing is right.

At first, I am not financial advisor so I can't tell anyone what to do but I can tell you what I would do...

In this current economic environment, I would not put any money in mutual fund or 401K. With Eurozone sovereign debt crisis unfolding, another Lehman moment will occur at any time (Because eurozone crisis will spread to US via CDS explosion). Have you ever considered move the fund to self-directed IRA? Instaed of investing in mutual fund, you can invest your IRA money into real estate, commodity etc. In other words, you have a control over your fund. In mutual fund, there is virtually no control over the fund (Beside, it is absolute crazy to hand our hard earned money to this industry that still doing the same methodolgy since 2008 crash).

You can search Self-directed IRA and look for the qualified castdian if you are interested.
