Is there any such thing as a self dircted rollover IRA? I lost my job in October and moved the funds into a Vanguard rollover IRA. They have okay choices but I have formed my opinion that the market in general will be sideways for a while and that I could do better by working with well researched inividual stocks for my rollover IRA. Is there a way where I would be allowed to self direct my rollover IRA into individual stocks and PM's of my choice?

    Thanks

Absolutely. Instead of having your account at a mutual fund company like Vanguard, transfer it to a discount brokerage like Scottrade. Actually, you could buy stocks in your Vanguard account but the commissions would kill you.
