  • Getting detailed info co. for investing

Does anyone know how detailed we can get in our research about a company?

I am wanting to know the wholesale prices of a pharma co. - as a consumer they are stating that info is not available to me - but as an investor would
I be able to have access to that?

    Any feedback appreciated.

Details: Pfizer animal products - curious how much their mark up is and Pfizer does not want consumers to have access to wholesale costs.

What company would like the public to get ahold of "markup" rates?

Assuming consistency between the different products of a company and assuming that markup rates are even how they price their product(s) -- their competitors would very much value that info.

Generally most companies will treat this information as confidential. Even to investors. I'd believe the BOD could get the info -- however, they'd desire to keep this confidential as well. It's in their best interests.

There are many different ways to manipulate pricing and in order to keep competitive, "markup" (cost-plus pricing, breakeven point pricing, competitive pricing, dynamic pricing, quantity discounts, etc.) can be different for different customers.

Almost everything is negotiable... to a point.

And sometimes even beyond that point if a company wants another type of tangible benefit.

I doubt any retail or manufacturing company would make it's pricing policies public.

      Thanks Seeker for explaining it.

You are right there is no simple clear cut wholesale price and standard retail price.

      I suspect a healthy markup.

Yup! Especially if the company is to continue operating in the green.

yes, and in this instance they are operating in quite the verdant lush green.
An almost greedy green - people dumping dogs to die because of costs green.

I ordered a bottle of hydroxyzine pills (an antihistamine) for my dogs and the price was $100.00.

I have never seen such a price jump as that.

Vet medicines from big pharmas are going up so high so fast that my vet claims they cannot keep a written price sheet as it fluctuates higher each week.

So they will be seeing less of my green - otc antihistamine which is far cheaper.
