Just do a search, you'll find hundreds of them. Personally, if you want to learn the intricacies of market mechanics, then watching or participating is the best education. Try my sig. link for a couple of free stock trading simulators and learn by doing.

You can try the following books, they are my favorites:
Fooled by Randomness, by Taleeb
The Misbehavior of Markets: A Fractal View of Financial Turbulence, by by Benoit Mandelbrot
Against the Gods: The Remarkable Story of Risk , by Bernstein
The Intelligent Investor: The Classic Text on Value Investing , by Graham
The links can be found on my blog site (below)Last edited by jeffrey; 08-20-2009, 10:57 AM.

If you mean by how the a trade / transaction is settled/matched in stock exchange. Then I don't know any book. But, if you want to know how to buy and sell stocks in market, you need to buy five rules for successful stock investing by pat dorsey. You may also need to read intelligent investor by ben graham as given by another amedvedovski .

Asking for a good trading book
There are tons out there but I found that The Power Curve, I think it is by Scott Kyle, was a great one. It actually gave me specific tips and strategies that I knew about but didn't quite know how to implement which I for some reason could not find. Hope that helps!

I'd go to the finance/business section of your library or bookstore and see what appeals to you. Some are more simple vs. technical, or might just spark your interest because of the writing style. You can always buy online to save, but I think you might want to get a "preview" before you buy. Also, some maganizes are good to get smaller tidbits of info and keep more current - Smart Money, things like that.
