So my wife asked me to look at her 401K allocation. She hasn’t looked at it since the market tanked.
She is currently allocated across 9 different funds:
T. Rowe Price Real Estate: 0.5% REIT
Vanguard REIT Index Fund Investor Shares 3.5% REIT
Vanguard Small-Cap Index Fund Investor Shares 5.0% Small Cap
Dreyfus MidCap Index 6.0% Mid Cap
Vanguard Mid-Cap Index Fund Investor Shares 5.0% Mid Cap
Vanguard Selected Value Fund 7.0% Mid Cap
Vanguard Institutional Index Fund Institutional 2.0% Large Blend
Vanguard International Explorer Fund 6.0% International
Vanguard Target Retirement 2035 Fund 65% Target
Her company has over 200 funds she can invest in. Pretty much everything from Vangaurd, T.Rowe Price, and Dreyfus.
I’m thinking we should go with about 80% stock and 20% bonds with more large cap and international. I also think we should pull the money out of the REITs. We are both 32 years old. Any thoughts?
