  • Anyone else get frustrated by the ING card design?

I've been an ING customer for about 3 years and have been very happy with my electric orange account, even in the face of declining APR's.

My one MAJOR gripe is the design of the debit card. The transparent orange horizontal wave thing makes merchants think it's the mag stripe, and it always takes them a time or two to get it swiped the right direction. I've been almost out the door of a coffee place before the cashier realized the sale didnt go through and they had to call me back.

With some millions of users out there, I can't be the only person that faces this frustrating situation. I had my card replaced about 6 months ago and was hoping they had enough feedback to change the design . . .NOPE! I ended sitting next to a VP of ING a couple months ago on an international flight, and politely suggested they look into a new design to prevent this confusion.

So, anyone else have this issue?

I've had that same issue before, but I laugh thinking about how many times the merchants swipe the card and don't even pay attention to the fact that the mag strip is always on the 'top' of the card.

It doesn't really rate high on my priority list though.

Have you ever thought that it was a marketing ploy, created so that you end up talking about the card when the merchant has problems swipping it?

I have at least one credit card that has the magnetic strip at the bottom. They don't all have it at the top.

What I hate is when you have to swipe your own card at the store, because sometimes the terminals are not clear on which way the stripe is supposed to face. I always end up having to do it multiple times.
