  • How to avoild bank of america myaccess account monthly fee?

I just got laid off and don't have any direct deposit from my employer anymore. I just wonder if I can do monthly withdraw from my ING Direct account considered as direct deposit ?

    Call BofA and ask them.

Don't bank with BoA... problem solved.

That's a bit sarcastic but, seriously, I'd suggest you look into local, regional banks, or credit unions for banking with better service and fewer fees.

One thing I'd like about BOA is online banking system. I use it to pay all of my bills online to save some bucks on stamps and envelopes :-) and transfer money back and forth with other online saving, CD accounts. I've called them and waive me for one year without monthly maintenance fees

Seriously.. BofA is the worst.. I have Citi, Wamu and Wells... Always been happy with WF, and I do not think they charge a monthly fee..

Most banks do not accept an ETF in place of a Direct Deposit to waive fees.

              100% agree with poundwise.

Any bank or CU offers online banking in this day and age. Plenty of them offer full services with no fees.

I could be wrong, but I don't think BOA's myaccess checking account has any monthly fees for inactivity. I've had several of them, in order to get their bonuses, and have never had any fees associated with the accounts and I would go months with no activity on the accounts.

Agreed. I had a VersaTel account for eleven years, and Bank of America wrote me in December 2006 to tell me that I was no longer deserving of a fee-free account without direct deposit. I was self-employed then, so I said goodbye to the bank: it seems to me they adopted a policy of actively shedding customers.

They have an annoying habit of intense marketing to their customers. Phone, mail, ads on the website, etc. Credit fraud protection, life insurance -- you name it, they sell it. After awhile it gets really annoying, especially the phone calls.

This is the best advice. My local home town bank offers bill pay and every other feature under the sun, without a single fee. I would never depend on BoA or any of the other mega banks for my personal banking needs.
