  • Opinions of Schwab?

I'm a current Delta SkyMiles/American Express cardholder. Recently they've raised the annual fee and lowered their benefits (no more double miles at gas stations, supermarkets, etc.).

I saw an article several months ago about Schwab's credit card offering unlimited 2% cash back. The catch? You must have a Schwab One brokerage account.

Does anyone use Schwab? Any negative or positive opinions? Their commission fees are higher than TD Ameritrade's, and I've been a loyal TD Ameritrade user for many years.

However, Schwab's credit card offer, 1% high-yield checking account, and 2% savings account offers seem too good to pass up. Even ING Direct isn't paying that much interest anymore.

    Thoughts?

You could open the Schwab brokerage just to get the CC, but not use it for any trading. Just put a few dollars in there to fund it initially and then withdraw later.

I have an active Schwab SIMPLE IRA, and a Schwab brokerage that I don't use. The commissions are too high for stock trading IMO. The research and market analysis is quite good though.

I've been a Schwab brokerage customer for over 10 years, no problems. The banking end of things is relatively new for them. I have a checking acct. and was just today looking at the other offerings you mention. I'm looking to get away from the Bailout Bank of America, and Schwab is a good deal. The trade-off is they don't have bank branches. For equities, they're better with mutual funds, not for low-cost trading. They do have good research.
