  • Gold & Silver

Does anyone invest in gold or silver? If so, whay % of your investments are in gold and/or silver?

I'd stay away from both. Silver isn't worth enough to make a difference, and gold has historically not even kept up with inflation. There's been talk about it recently, but I wouldn't buy into the hype.

I am short gold right now and long silver. You can access them directly thru the GLD and SLV ETFs. The ratio between the two is way off versus historical norms.

check out a post I wrote about a couple weeks ago

The only reason gold is worth anything right now is because it doesn't lose it's value the way stocks do. People are moving towards bonds, precious metals, and other commodity items because it is a stable investment to wait out the storm in. When we get back into a bull market, the prices of those will bottom out and the last ones to pull out will have lost what they save by being there to begin with.
