  • ING Bonus Lawsuit

ING is going after someone who used their referral bonus feature to refer 918 of his closest friends to ING, making him nearly $10,000. ING is saying he bent the rules and exceeded the 25 allowed referrals.

I know this board is offering ING bonus conversions. Make sure what's being done is ING-approved!

ING Referral Program Now A Lawsuit

I wonder how he did it. The article said he "manipulated" ING's online program.

probably had something to do with opening multiple separate accounts... but then, don't you need a different SSN attached to each account? so maybe he managed to mess with their systems somehow, to "forget" how many invitations he'd sent?

I have multiple savings accounts with ING. With mine, it would have let me send 25 invitations for each account. Their terms probably say 25 to a person and account type, not by account itself. I'm not sure it still shows up with that ability anymore, as this was about 3 years ago. Because it was technically feasible they could say he "manipulated the system" even if it was through basically a loophole they introduced. It's still manipulating the terms of the bonus program.

ING just needs money, they to may be one of the banks to fail, so they are pulling out all the stops for something stupid like this.

My guess is it is ING's fault for not securing their referal program, there is probably a loophole or he just got lucky and it kept letting him add freinds, if it were me I would be doing the same thing. Shame on ING.

Wow. Now he can use all that money he made to hire a lawyer.
