    scfr,

I tend to adjust my allocation at least twice a year. So I can dump the ones performing really bad and get into some new and fresh. I'm curious what is your asset allocation look like?

Your asset allocation almost mirrors mine now, except I no longer have international fund.

I hope it stays low longer than that! I think a nice 5-year flatline would give me a lot of buying opportunities over the next 5 years. Since I have almost 30 years to retirement I don't care what it does in the short term. But I'd certainly prefer to pay less since I'll be buying regardless.

I totally agree, if you're thinking about doing anything, maybe the smart move is to stop contributions. (or start buying if you think we hit the bottom today)

I have not logged in to my 401k account since June (when I upped from 2% bonds to 3% bonds). That move is part of a 2X annual bond increase I do to slowly move from 100% equity to a 90-10 or 80-20 portfolio.

I have logged into my IRA accounts numerous times to change contributions and verify yearly max. My IRA hits the 5k max in August ($625/month for 8 months) and then I take my contribution to $0 and increase wife's from $400 to $1025.

No selling of anythiing I have purchased though- I prefer to rebalance with new contributions as much as possible.

The best thing to do in times like this is to find something else to do- read of others troubles on forums like this, see if the Buffalo Bills did anything important during the week, or find a good joke on the net.

Do not look at account balances.

              Still saving 20%
Buying 97% equity and 3% bonds in all all tax deferred accounts (401ks) and buying 100% equity in all tax free accounts (Roths).

This is basically why Warren Buffett stays as far from Wall Street as he can. Best to invest rationally than be swept up by fear or greed.

MY 401 k and roth is way down. I have been thinking about reallocation my but they said it's the best time to be in the market. But when do you reallocate funds? How down should you wait for your 401k and roth to go?

Wait for the accounts to go up before rebalancing is my advice. If you rebalance now you will lose the benefit of the up market which is about to come- unless the rebalance buys MORE equities.

Wow, international (EAFE index) is up 11.3% over last two days. Exceptionally bad timing.

I'll be moving by adding more towards my Bond index. My portfolio will be heavily towards bond index 45%, 35% stocks index, 20% short term cash. Have you changed your allocation yet?
I haven't changed anything. The sale of our old house closes in a couple weeks, and I plan on buying equities with the money.

I won't sell low. I'm raising my contribution to buy more while everthing's low. I have at least 20 years until retirement.
