Need some advice on my future savings.

I would recommend you to take help from a finance professional. Tell him your current status & requirement. And I am sure he could suggest you the best option that suits with your exact needs.

The two bold parts confuse me. You say you are going to retire soon, but then mention that you had been advised to invest for the future.

I have to ask, do you already have retirement funds (since you are asking about how to save for the future)? The way your question is worded makes it sound like you are ready to retire but have no retirements savings to do it with.
