Best investment strategies in bear market

My YTD performance of 401K is pretty depressing - 12.2% down so far.

Did your portfolio do any better than this? If yes, what is your portfolio composition? What are alternative investments in falling markets?

My international funds are doing the best right now and have been over the long term. That is where the growth is. I try to put 50% of my investments in international funds although some people recommend just 25%.

Really, the whole market is down this year, my investments are down YTD as well. The best strategy is to wait it out, it will come back in a few years.
