  • Books to learn about investing

    Periodically someone asks for books to help them learn about investing. Can we make a sticky thread so we can keep a running list?

    Here's my suggestions:
    The Complete Idiot's Guide to Getting Rich -- to help you set your goals for how much to save each year, and how much your "financial freedom" goal should be
    The Intelligent Asset Allocator -- explains why it's good to be invested in a mix of different kinds of stocks and bonds
    The Boglehead's Guide to Investing -- basics on mutual funds

      "Saving for Retirement (Without Living Like a Pauper or Winning the Lottery)" by Gail MarksJarvis.

      Amazing read, very easy to comprehend and perfect for a beginner to understand the difficulties of the market. Although it goes into more complex topics, i.e. ETFs, REITs, etc., briefly, this book will develop a great foundation for your future understanding of the market from a newbie to sophomore and higher....
