LOL. pyotr, really it's nothing personal. Some things can be argued to death and both people could be right. (Except in the case of VJW who is always wrong -- Just kidding!!)

This is something that just can't be argued though. The rules of math are the rules of math. I have been and will be wrong on a lot of things, but this isn't one of them.

Anyway, back on the original topic, I think this should be an eye opener for rate chasers. People chasing just a .25% yield (by going from 4% to 4.25% for example) can end up taking 64 days to catch up on their interest if they lose 4 days in the transfer. That's huge.

So as long as we're all still against VJW, I suppose I could withdraw my offer to duel. Yet be thee 'ware nonetheless.

Yikes... now now boys... The point is a bank has better interest rate then another bank - so stick to the bank with the higher interest rate. No need to get all technical with the numbers... Although they may be nice to know..

If someone tells you to do 2 * 2 / 2, you do the multiplication first and then the division second. That makes a big difference between the result being 2 or 1/2
          2 times 2 = 4, divided by 2 = 2

          2 divided by 2 = 1, times 2 = 2

Where'd the 1/2 come from Sweeps? I get 2 both ways (multiplying first, or dividing first).

Alright, I admit it. I felt left out.

            Oops. I meant to write 2 / 2 * 2. Good catch.

I never read that particular post. Now I feel like such a fool for having defended you.

I need to offically close out my ING account it only has a few cents in it and they don't earn interest. I opened up an account with Christian Community Credit Union I will be taking advantage of their 6% offer for 6 months and then.... hopefully Emigrant Direct will be up to 6% or at least 5%

I would not close my ING account.... I left $1 in there. They say, no minimums, no fees, ever...

just leave it open, who knows when they will decide to become competitive again, then all you have to do is transfer money back in... just leave a dollar in there...

I left 15 cents in my ING account. It didn't really take that long for me to earn 1 cent in interest. I transferred all of my existing savings to ING for their Winter Save-Up promotion. I'm routing any new savings to HSBC to get that additional .05 percent in yield.
