  • Vanguard Roth IRA

I am ready to open a Roth IRA and would like to use Vanguard since that is what I already use through my employer. I have $4000 ready to go for the 2007 year, and will contribute another $5000 at the start of 2008. According to their website there is a $20 annual charge for an account with less than $10000. Is there anyway to get around this fee or I am stuck with it until I can contribute more in 2009? Thanks!

Yes, you can get around the fee by accepting e-statements in lieu of paper statements. You'll see the option when you open the account on the website.
