  • TDBank buying Commerce

It was announced today that TDBank is buying Commerce for, I believe, $8.5 billion. Living in the hometown of Commerce Bank, where there is a branch on every corner it seems, this was quite a surprise to me.

The "founder" and CEO of Commerce was recently asked to resign. He never wanted to sell the business but now it's not really in hands anymore. Just hope that they don't lose the "customer appreciation" they seemed to have after the new guys take over.

Interesting. TD bought my bank (BankNorth) about 3 years ago, and I have to say I haven't really noticed a difference in fees or services.

I wonder if this means penny arcade is coming to TDBanknorth?
