  • Find me a 1-yr CD higher than 5.45%

I'm looking to put some money (at least 5k) into a 1-year CD. The best rate I'm finding is 5.45%. Has anyone seen anything higher than that? If so, point me in the right direction.

Skooby - I wouldn't trust a place like that. They are based in another country, somewhere in the Caribbean I believe. Who knows if they are legitimate or not. The fact that their website includes testimonials would make me seriously question how safe they are. I'll keep my conservative money here in the US. Thanks, though.

I can't find anything either, Steve. I have one at 5.5 that is good for a while. But I had to renew my old one at 5.35% I would not go out in the country either.

Patelco Credit union had 7% last month for a 1 year CD. But the catch is that you have to open a new bank account (can't be a previous member). This Credit Union is pretty much located in the Bay Area though.

            Steve,

If you have at least 10k, you could try Virtual Bank, they are offering a 5.55% APY.

            Also, GiantBank.com is offering a 5.46% APY.

Both banks are FDIC insured and very reputable.

            Take care.
